RAM BREWS WIN BRONZE AT WORLD BEER CUP

Kevin Bolen, Head Brewer for The Ram Restaurant and Brewery in Boise, was recently awarded a Bronze medal at the World Beer Cup Awards in San Diego, California. Bolen won for his hand-crafted, seasonal creation “Lochsa Lager,” in the Vienna-Style Lager category.

“I was pretty elated to have won,” says Bolen of his Bronze medal. “A lot of thought went into this recipe before I got it going. It has been a long-time in the making and it’s exciting to have won an award with it.”

Over 2,800 beers were judged at this year’s World Beer Cup. Beers from across the world were awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in each of the 91 categories.

Bolen has been brewing for the Ram in Boise for 11 years. While he has gathered various accolades from the Great American Beer Festival, this award was his first at the World Beer Cup.

The “Lochsa Lager” is no longer on tap at the Ram, but will return in January 2009 to celebrate its Bronze medal. To enjoy this and other award-winning hand-crafted brews, visit the Boise RAM at 709 Park Blvd.
